The Staghorn Damsel, Amblyglyphidodon curacao, has a silvery-green to yellowish body crossed by broad darker bars. In nature it occurs around sheltered reef habitats, and its adult presence is more substantial than that of the smallest ornamental damsels.

Provide established rockwork with both grazing surfaces and retreats. This is an assertive species, so timid fish that depend on quiet feeding areas may be unsuitable neighbours. Allow room to move between separate territories and monitor whether any companion is being kept away from shelter.

Feed a varied omnivore diet using small marine meaty foods and suitable algae-containing preparations. Regular meals complement natural grazing, but feeding alone will not eliminate territorial behaviour. Assess compatibility as the fish settles in, since its behaviour can become clearer once it establishes a preferred part of the aquarium.
