Hairy Green Mushroom (Per head)

Hairy Green Mushroom is a Rhodactis-type corallimorph with a textured disc rather than the rigid branching skeleton of a stony coral. The per-head listing is useful for starting a mushroom patch, but leave surrounding space for the disc to expand without resting against neighbouring coral tissue.

A sheltered part of the reef with relatively low light and gentle circulation is a sensible starting point. Excessive light or a persistent pump jet can prevent full expansion. Keep the supporting rock secure, and make changes gradually if the mushroom remains contracted.

These mushrooms are photosynthetic and can also take appropriately sized meaty marine foods. Offer a small portion and allow the disc time to fold around it; remove leftovers if it does not respond. Give the mushroom room to spread while protecting less competitive corals from direct contact.
