Yellow Candy Hogfish

The Yellow Candy Hogfish, Bodianus bimaculatus, is a small hogfish with yellow colouring and two prominent dark spots, one behind the eye and another near the tail. Fine reddish lines can add detail to its body pattern.

Provide caves and crevices within an established aquarium, with enough space to move between them. Although smaller than many other hogfish, it may become territorial toward its own kind. A quiet-looking juvenile should not be used as the sole guide to future stocking decisions.

Feed a varied marine carnivore diet, including mysis, enriched brine shrimp and suitable chopped seafood or prepared foods. Larger individuals may eat small ornamental shrimp, so assess crustacean companions before adding it. Reliable shelter and regular meals support acclimation without removing the species' natural predatory tendencies.
