Yellow Anthias

The Yellow Anthias, Pseudanthias cichlops, is a yellow-to-orange water-column feeder. Its active swimming and frequent feeding needs are central considerations when deciding whether it suits a reef community.

Set up open swimming room beside mature rockwork with several sheltered retreats. A secure cover helps prevent losses from jumping during a fright or social dispute. Anthias kept together need observation as individuals: a group can develop a hierarchy that leaves a quieter fish hiding or missing meals.

Provide several small portions of suitable marine meaty foods through the day, such as mysis, copepods and enriched brine shrimp. Appropriately sized prepared foods can add variety when accepted. Confirm dependable feeding instead of relying on natural aquarium plankton to support an active anthias indefinitely.
