Yasha Goby

The Yasha Goby, Stonogobiops yasha, combines red-and-white markings with an elongated first dorsal fin. It is a small shrimp goby whose most interesting behaviour often occurs beside the entrance to its shelter.

Provide a sandy area with stable rockwork and suitable loose rubble for burrowing. The species can associate with a compatible pistol shrimp, but that association depends on the animals involved and is not guaranteed on introduction. Quiet companions make it easier for the goby to remain visible and feed confidently.

Offer finely sized marine meaty foods near its retreat, using targeted feeding when necessary. A busy water-column feeding may leave little available at the bottom. Secure small gaps in the aquarium cover, since a timid goby can still jump when startled.
