Y-Bar Shrimp goby

The Y-Bar Shrimp Goby, Cryptocentrus fasciatus, is also called the Barred or Blue Fin Watchman Goby. Its patterned body and blue fin details are best appreciated when it is comfortable watching from a sheltered position near the sand.

Provide burrowing substrate and stable rockwork with protected entrances. This goby can form a partnership with a compatible pistol shrimp, but a newly introduced goby and shrimp are not automatically a bonded pair. Keep suitable cover over the aquarium because shrimp gobies may jump.

Deliver small marine meaty foods near the goby's retreat several times daily. Calm companions help it feed without abandoning shelter under pressure. Another watchman goby needs careful consideration; keeping one individual or an already compatible pair avoids assuming that any two bottom-dwelling fish will share the same territory.
