Wild Ocellaris Clownfish

The Wild Ocellaris Clownfish is Amphiprion ocellaris, the familiar orange clownfish with three white bars edged in dark pigment. Individual pattern and colour intensity vary, and the fish's current size and condition should guide aquarium planning.

Provide a settled marine aquarium with sheltered territory and compatible companions. Clownfish can defend a preferred area strongly, particularly as a pair matures. Introducing two fish does not by itself establish a bonded pair, and another clownfish species can create territorial conflict.

Offer a varied diet of small marine meaty foods and suitable omnivore preparations containing algae. Check that the fish is feeding reliably before purchase and after introduction. An anemone is not necessary to maintain an Ocellaris Clownfish and brings its own lighting, stability and compatibility requirements.
