Venus Cleaner Shrimp

The Venus Cleaner Shrimp is a small, nearly transparent shrimp associated with anemones and some fleshy corals. Its subtle markings and tendency to remain close to shelter make it a rewarding animal for a quiet display where it can be observed at close range.

Provide fine crevices and protected perches within the live rock. Offer suitably small frozen or prepared marine foods and verify that they reach the shrimp; a large fish population can intercept food before a shy individual emerges.

Avoid fish and larger invertebrates that may see it as prey. The cleaner name should not be interpreted as a promise of disease control, and a particular host relationship is not guaranteed for every aquarium. Consistent salinity, careful acclimation, and a secure molting refuge are central to keeping such a small shrimp.
