Upside Down Jellyfish

The Upside Down Jellyfish rests with its bell on the bottom and its frilled feeding surfaces facing upward. This unusual posture exposes its symbiotic algae to light while allowing it to capture planktonic food from the surrounding water.

Provide a specialist setup with a broad sandy area, suitable lighting, protected equipment, and carefully controlled water movement. A conventional reef packed with sharp rock, exposed pumps, and territorial fish is not a suitable default home. Maintain stable salinity and temperature because its soft body is particularly vulnerable to abrupt changes.

Supplement with appropriately sized zooplankton foods daily; photosynthesis is only part of the nutrition plan. Its stinging cells also matter during handling and maintenance. Choose it only when the aquarium and feeding routine have been designed for jellyfish rather than adding it as a novelty to an existing community.
