Tail Spot Blenny

The Tail Spot Blenny (Ecsenius stigmatura) is a small perching fish with a dark mark at the base of its tail and contrasting markings beneath the eyes. It often observes the aquarium from a crevice before making short excursions to nearby surfaces.

Provide mature rockwork with numerous snug retreats and grazing areas. Aggressive companions can keep this blenny hidden and prevent it from feeding, so its small size is a reason for thoughtful stocking rather than simply choosing the smallest available aquarium.

Offer marine algae-based and herbivore preparations alongside the natural growth it browses. Confirm acceptance of supplemental foods and watch body condition. A patch of algae is not a reliable long-term feeding plan for a fish expected to live in a deliberately clean reef.
