Suction Cup Caulerpa

Suction Cup Caulerpa is a green macroalga named for the small cup-like or flattened tops carried above its creeping runners. It adds a low, patterned texture to a marine planting and can be positioned among rubble or along the substrate.

Give it consistent lighting, available nutrients and water movement that keeps debris from settling into the growth. The runners can spread beyond their original position, so plant it where the surrounding rock can be inspected and excess growth removed.

Harvesting healthy growth is what exports the nutrients absorbed by the algae. Regular maintenance also reduces dense, aging patches and helps you notice paling or deterioration early. Caulerpa forms can vary with conditions, and this common name does not establish a precise botanical variety. Keep the planting contained within the aquarium system.
