Strawberry Conch

The Strawberry Conch is an active substrate grazer with prominent eyes and a long feeding proboscis. It progresses in small lurches across the bottom and may partly bury itself while continuing to investigate the sand.

Provide an open expanse of mature substrate with accessible algae and organic material. Its feeding area should be large enough to remain productive after the first surface growth is consumed. A tightly packed reef or bare-bottom aquarium offers fewer opportunities for this sand-associated animal.

Watch that the conch can maneuver without wedging between rocks, and protect it from snail-eating fish or aggressive crabs. Feed appropriately if natural resources decline and monitor continued foraging. Stable salinity and shell-supporting water chemistry matter as much as its useful grazing behavior; it remains an animal to feed, not a replacement for maintenance.
