Springer's Damsel

Springer's Damsel, Chrysiptera springeri, is a blue damselfish that uses reef structure for shelter and territory. It is generally less combative than many other damsels, but that comparison should not be mistaken for a promise that every individual will ignore its neighbours.

Provide several separate hiding areas and clear routes away from a defended patch of rock. Watch introductions closely, especially with timid fish or another damsel using the same space. A fish repeatedly confined to a corner needs attention even if no visible injury has occurred.

Feed small marine meaty foods alongside suitable omnivore preparations containing algae or spirulina. Its appetite and activity suit an established aquarium with reliable maintenance; hardiness is not a reason to introduce fish before the biological filtration is ready.
