Smith's Blenny

Smith's Blenny (Meiacanthus smithii) has a pale blue-white body with a dark line running through the eye and along its upper profile. It is a fangblenny that searches for small animal foods rather than functioning as a dedicated algae grazer.

Arrange mature rockwork with hiding places and routes for exploration. Similar-looking blennies can become territorial competitors. Its defensive fangs are a further reason to avoid direct handling and to assess aggressive tankmates carefully.

Offer appropriately sized crustacean foods, enriched brine shrimp and suitable varied marine preparations. Confirm the available fish's feeding response so its diet can continue smoothly after introduction. Provide food where it can feed without repeatedly having to confront a resident fish at a single sheltered feeding spot.
