The Skeletor Eel, Echidna xanthospilos, is a moray with a dark background and irregular pale markings. It spends much of the day within shelter, with activity often increasing after the lights dim. It can approach 60 cm in length as an adult.

Give the eel a secure retreat long enough to conceal its body. Rock structures must remain stable when it pushes through them, and the aquarium needs a firmly secured cover with openings around equipment closed. Plan maintenance around its hiding places rather than reaching into an occupied cave.

Offer a varied marine carnivore diet with suitable crustacean and other seafood portions. Use a long feeding tool instead of fingers. Ornamental crustaceans and sufficiently small fish are unsuitable companions, and another moray needs careful assessment rather than an assumption that shared hiding behaviour means compatibility.
