Sexy Shrimp

The Sexy Shrimp (Thor amboinensis) is a tiny marine shrimp recognised by its white spots and raised, swaying abdomen. It may perch on rockwork or near corals, where its distinctive movement is easier to see than its small size might suggest.

This is a choice for a peaceful aquarium whose inhabitants will not prey on small shrimp. Small groups can be kept together, but the full fish list matters more than simply labelling the aquarium reef safe.

Provide small portions of suitable planktonic or finely divided meaty foods. Place food within reach and watch the shrimp feed rather than relying entirely on scraps from larger animals. When planning a display, choose observation spots near cover where these small invertebrates can remain visible without being exposed to predators.
