Seahorse (CB)

A seahorse aquarium should make feeding and secure attachment easy. Provide suitable hitching structures for the tail and water movement that circulates around them without trapping food in inaccessible pockets. A dedicated display makes it easier to observe each animal and manage its slower feeding pace.

Confirm the current diet before purchase, including whether the individual reliably accepts thawed mysis. Captive-bred labelling alone does not prove acceptance of a particular food. Offer the established suitable diet in several controlled meals, observe feeding directly and remove leftovers so they do not decay around the decor.

Fast or aggressive fish can outcompete seahorses even without attacking them. Identify the species before setting the temperature or choosing adult tank dimensions, as seahorses do not all share those requirements. Colour can change with surroundings and condition, so it should not be treated as a permanent identifying feature.
