Seachem Gray Coast is a dry, natural calcite aquarium substrate with a grey appearance. Its carbonate-based composition distinguishes it from inert decorative gravel and makes water-chemistry compatibility an important part of choosing it for an aquarium.

Seachem describes Gray Coast as helping support calcium, alkalinity, and resistance to pH decline. It therefore deserves different consideration from a substrate chosen specifically for soft, acidic water. In a reef aquarium, continue measuring major water parameters rather than relying on substrate alone to meet the demands of growing corals.

Rinse away residual dust before use and fill the aquarium gently over a bowl or similar diffuser to avoid disturbing the bed. Some initial cloudiness can be managed with mechanical filtration. Select the listed bag weight according to the aquarium footprint and desired depth; this dry substrate does not provide an instantly cycled aquarium.
