Scopas Tang

The Scopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas) has a brown-to-yellow body with fine pale markings. Juveniles and adults differ in proportions and colour, making mature swimming needs more relevant than a young fish's compact appearance.

Provide a large established aquarium with substantial open water and rockwork arranged for grazing and retreat. Scopas tangs can be strongly territorial toward other tangs. Similar body shape may matter more than a different colour when assessing a potential companion.

Marine algae and seaweed should form a dependable part of the diet, with appropriate prepared foods offering variety. Watch access to grazing stations as well as total food offered; a subordinate fish can be excluded even when a feeding clip appears to be used regularly.
