Scooter Blenny

The Scooter Blenny is a dragonet, commonly identified as Synchiropus ocellatus, rather than an algae-grazing blenny. Its low profile and bottom-hopping movement help it search the substrate for small food items.

Prepare a feeding plan based on small animal foods. Captive-bred Scooter Dragonets can accept small pellets and frozen mysis, but the feeding response of the available fish needs to be checked. Do not buy this species to solve an algae problem or assume grazing movements mean it is eating algae.

Ask us about the individual’s source, size, and current diet, especially when comparing it with a Mandarin Dragonet. Male and female Scooter Dragonets differ in dorsal-fin appearance, but a product name or general photograph does not establish a particular fish’s sex or pairing status.
