Sally Lightfoot Crab

The Sally Lightfoot Crab is a quick-moving, flattened crab that slips readily into narrow gaps in the rockwork. Its active foraging and contrasting leg markings make it conspicuous when it crosses open surfaces.

Provide a spacious marine aquarium with secure rock, hiding places, and good circulation. Offer both marine algae foods and appropriate meaty portions when natural forage is limited. Its appetite and movement should be considered alongside the needs of the animals sharing its territory.

Compatibility can change as the crab grows. Larger individuals may catch small fish or invertebrates, so algae grazing is not a guarantee of safety in a mixed reef. Avoid choosing it solely as an algae-control measure, and make sure the aquascape allows capture if it begins threatening tankmates.
