Ruby Dragonet

The Ruby Dragonet is a small, brightly coloured bottom-oriented marine fish that moves deliberately while searching for tiny prey. Its feeding style differs from that of active fish that rush to take food from the water column.

Choose a mature aquarium with extensive foraging surfaces and quiet companions. Other small-prey specialists can deplete the same food supply, while fast feeders may intercept offered meals before the dragonet responds. A recently assembled tank is a poor substitute for an established feeding habitat.

Plan a dependable supply of suitably tiny animal foods and confirm the individual's response to prepared food. Observe feeding and body condition over time; apparent pecking does not prove adequate nutrition. Keepers considering several dragonets need to establish both compatibility and sufficient food for every fish.
