Royal Gramma

The Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto) is a Caribbean reef fish with a purple front half and yellow rear half. It is a cave-associated species, so its place in the aquascape matters as much as its colour when planning a community aquarium.

Provide rock crevices and sheltered retreats where the fish can establish a home. A Royal Gramma may defend that area against similar-looking fish even when it coexists well with other members of the community. Check proposed combinations before adding another basslet or a fish with similar colouring.

Feed a varied carnivorous diet using appropriately sized marine foods, such as frozen mysis and suitable pellets. Position feeding so a newly introduced fish can eat without leaving cover for a busy feeding crowd. Confirm current size and feeding response with our team when selecting the available fish.
