Resplendent Anthias

Resplendent Anthias show orange, pink and yellow tones, with different markings in mature males and females. Their activity in the water column makes them engaging display fish, but their feeding and social requirements need advance planning.

Provide open midwater space above caves and ledges. A group requires more space than an individual and should offer several escape routes for subordinate fish. Social position can change over time, including a female developing into a male.

Offer repeated small meals of fine marine foods throughout the day. Frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp and suitable prepared foods can be used according to acceptance. A refugium can contribute live prey, but the keeper still needs to check that every anthias maintains condition and reaches food.
