Red Spotted Goby

The Red Spotted Goby is a tiny reef fish with red markings and prominent eyes. Its scale makes small crevices and quiet feeding areas more important than the open swimming room needed by larger gobies.

Provide mature rockwork with numerous narrow retreats. Large predatory fish and aggressive invertebrates are poor companions, even in an aquarium with abundant cover. In a busy community this small goby can become difficult to observe closely enough to assess its condition.

Offer finely sized marine foods, including small mysis, enriched brine shrimp and minced seafood suited to its mouth. Place meals near its usual retreat and verify that food is swallowed. The presence of live rock can support foraging but should not replace a deliberate feeding routine.
