Red Porcelain Crab

The Red Porcelain Crab is a small marine crab best appreciated for its feeding behavior. Instead of using its prominent claws to catch every meal, it extends delicate, fan-like appendages into moving water to collect suspended particles.

Provide mature live rock with sheltered edges exposed to gentle circulation. Offer suitable fine foods for filter feeders as well as very small meaty portions that the crab can collect. A shaded perch that remains visible makes it easier to see whether the fans extend and food is available.

Choose peaceful tankmates that will not attack a small crab or continually force it into hiding. The red trade label does not identify a particular host anemone, so no host requirement is assumed. Protect it during molting and keep water conditions steady rather than relying on leftover fish food alone.
