Red Lined Wrasse

The Red Lined Wrasse has fine stripes along its body, while young fish show dark eyespots on the dorsal fin that fade with maturity. Its appearance changes as it grows, but its active hunting behaviour remains an important part of aquarium planning.

Use an established system with soft sand for burying, stable rockwork and a securely covered top. Leave a clear area of substrate and enough open water for daily swimming rather than filling every surface with rock.

Offer frequent small servings of marine meaty foods. This wrasse hunts bottom-dwelling invertebrates and may consume ornamental shrimp, fan worms and other desirable animals. Its appetite cannot be restricted to whichever organisms a keeper considers pests.
