Red Favia Coral

Red Favia Coral is a fleshy brain-coral type that can form a substantial encrusting or mounding presence as it grows. Choose a stable position with clear space around the colony, taking account of both its expanding edge and possible nighttime sweeper tentacles.

Acclimate in low to moderate lighting. Moderate, indirect circulation should keep the surface clean without pulling the flesh tight against its skeleton. A persistently retracted side can indicate local irritation, so examine flow and neighbouring contact before making broad changes to the aquarium.

The coral is photosynthetic and can benefit from small meaty foods. Match each portion to the mouth's capacity and allow it time to ingest the food. Protect nearby delicate corals from its reach, and continue inspecting the gap as this brain coral grows beyond its original mounting area.
