Red Fairy Anthias

The Red Fairy Anthias, also called Kashiwae or Tricolor Anthias, has pink-orange tones and red markings that differ between mature males and females. It is an active anthias whose social behaviour deserves careful attention in a community.

Provide substantial swimming room with several caves and retreat routes. Group housing and combinations with other anthias need observation during introduction; have a way to separate fish if chasing prevents a subordinate from feeding or resting.

Feed small amounts of suitable frozen marine foods repeatedly through the day. Mysid shrimp, enriched brine shrimp and accepted prepared foods can be varied according to mouth size and feeding response. Regular food intake is more useful evidence of adaptation than bright colour immediately after introduction.
