Red Bar Anthias

The Red Bar Anthias is also known as Cooper's Anthias. Mature males can show a pronounced red bar across a pink body, while female colouring is different; reference images do not establish the sex of a particular fish.

Arrange caves and ledges below clear midwater swimming areas. Housing a group requires room for a social hierarchy and places for subordinate fish to withdraw. Selecting multiple males without a compatibility plan can create avoidable conflict.

Offer frequent small portions of fine marine foods, including mysis and enriched brine shrimp, with prepared foods added as accepted. Watch each fish during meals. Anthias can remain active while receiving too little food, so a feeding schedule needs to fit the keeper's routine as well as the aquarium's filtration.
