Red Acro Crab is a coral-associated inhabitant whose housing should start with a suitable living colony. The branches provide cover, and coral guard crabs obtain nutrition from host mucus and food material caught among the branches. Their relationship with living coral makes host selection central to their care.

Maintain the host's health with appropriate reef lighting, circulation and stable water conditions. An Acro trade label is not enough to establish the precise host association, so confirm the coral match before adding the crab. Food offered to the aquarium cannot substitute for that living habitat.

Give resident crabs room and avoid forcing unfamiliar individuals into a single colony. Coral-crab territories can be defended strongly against rivals. Protect the crab from crustacean-hunting fish and assess its suitability alongside the coral it will occupy.
