Racoon Butterfly

The Raccoon Butterflyfish, listed here as Racoon Butterfly, has a dark eye mask bordered by pale markings on a yellow-orange body. It is a roaming feeder whose behaviour around coral and other invertebrates matters more than its attractive pattern.

Choose a spacious fish-focused aquarium with room to swim and shelter among the rockwork. This butterflyfish can eat coral and other invertebrates, so it is a poor choice where protecting a mixed reef collection is a priority.

Offer varied marine meaty foods such as mysis and finely prepared crustacean flesh. New arrivals can be reluctant to feed, making confirmed food acceptance especially useful before purchase. Plan repeated small feeding opportunities and watch the individual consume food rather than assuming it shares another butterflyfish's habits.
