Purple Bulls Eye Pistol Shrimp

The Purple Bulls Eye Pistol Shrimp is a snapping shrimp recognized by contrasting claws and a dark, eye-like mark on the body. It explores sheltered reef spaces and excavates around its home, producing audible clicks with an enlarged claw.

Provide sand, rock caves, and shaded retreats, with larger rocks supported independently of loose substrate. Offer small portions of marine meaty food near its shelter. Its digging may shift sand around low corals, so leave a practical buffer around the burrow.

Unlike familiar goby-pairing pistol shrimp, the bullseye type does not normally form that partnership. Choose it for its own behavior rather than purchasing it with an expectation of a bonded goby pair. Very small shrimp may be at risk, and molting requires protection from larger predators.
