Pajama Cardinalfish

The Pajama Cardinalfish (Sphaeramia nematoptera) is a docile marine fish with contrasting markings across the front and rear of its body. It is a different species from both the Banggai Cardinalfish and the similar-looking Orbic Cardinalfish.

Pajama cardinals are suited to a peaceful reef community where more assertive fish will not continually chase them. Consider the behaviour of existing tankmates as well as available space, and allow the new fish to settle without competition from aggressive feeders.

This species accepts a variety of aquarium foods, including frozen foods and pellets. Choose food small enough for the available fish and confirm that it is taking meals after introduction.
