Orange Spot Rabbitfish

The Orange Spot Rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus) is also known as the Yellow Blotch Rabbitfish. Its body carries numerous orange-brown spots and a larger bright marking near the tail, giving it a distinct appearance among rabbitfish.

A large, established aquarium should offer both swimming space and mature rocks for grazing and refuge. Rabbitfish have venomous fin spines, so plan transfers and maintenance to avoid contact. Other rabbitfish may be challenged even when unrelated companions are tolerated.

Supply a diet rich in marine algae and appropriate herbivore foods. Coral, sponge and other attached invertebrates can be nipped, especially when dietary needs are not met. Its usefulness as a grazer does not remove the need to monitor compatibility within a reef display.
