Orange Shoulder Tang

The Orange Shoulder Tang changes from a mainly yellow juvenile into a grey adult with a conspicuous orange shoulder marking. That transformation is a normal part of its development, so juvenile size and colour are a poor guide to the mature fish's needs.

Plan a large aquarium with long, open swimming routes and rockwork arranged to allow movement around it. Make room for adult growth before purchase instead of relying on a future upgrade after space becomes restricted.

Offer marine seaweed, algae-based preparations and a varied appropriate diet. It may take meaty foods with other fish, but plant material remains important. Check how the new tang will reach feeding stations within the existing community, especially where other grazing fish already defend them.
