Orange Prawn Goby

The Orange Prawn Goby, Amblyeleotris randalli, is also known as Randall's Shrimp Goby. Fine orange bands cross its pale body, and the tall first dorsal fin carries a dark spot.

This burrow-associated goby needs suitable sand and stable rockwork, with shelter close to the bottom. It can share a burrow with an appropriate alpheid pistol shrimp: the shrimp excavates while the goby watches for danger. That natural association does not guarantee an immediate bond with every shrimp introduced to the aquarium.

Deliver small meaty marine foods where the goby can reach them near its retreat. A quiet feeding area helps prevent faster fish from taking every portion. Fit a secure lid even when the fish spends most of its time close to its burrow.
