Orange Backed Fairy Wrasse

The Orange Backed Fairy Wrasse brings an orange upper body and contrasting pink-purple markings to the open water above a reef. Its colour can change with mood and maturity, and a display photograph does not establish the sex of the available fish.

Arrange rockwork to provide shaded retreats while retaining a clear swimming area. This fairy wrasse can jump when startled; a lid with gaps around plumbing left open is not a secure enclosure.

Offer several suitable small marine foods, such as frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp and appropriately sized prepared diets. Observe its access to meals when housed with faster feeders. Its active swimming style suits a thoughtfully stocked community with space to retreat from more assertive fish.
