Night Owl Zoa Frag

Night Owl is a zoanthid frag, suited to a dedicated area where its individual polyps can develop into a spreading colony. A small rock island makes its growth easier to manage and allows the colony to be moved if nearby corals begin to shade or crowd it.

Acclimate it under subdued lighting before increasing intensity. Give the mat enough circulation to prevent sediment collecting between the polyps, while protecting a newly attached frag from being dislodged. Zoanthids obtain energy through photosynthesis and may take very fine planktonic foods; watch for capture before increasing feeding.

Use gloves and eye protection for handling because zoanthids can contain palytoxin. Do not boil colony rock or use methods that spray damaged tissue into the air. Persistent closure warrants checking debris and irritation before changing several tank settings at once.
