Monster Shrimp Goby

The Monster Shrimp Goby (Tomiyamichthys oni) is a pale, brown-spotted goby that lives close to the sand and shelter. Its common name does not describe an aggressive giant; this is a comparatively shy fish with specialised bottom-feeding needs.

Prepare a mature aquarium with a substantial sand bed, stable rocks and secure retreats. It can associate with compatible pistol shrimp, but an individual goby listing does not include or establish such a partnership. Other territorial gobies may cause conflict.

Offer frequent small meaty meals that reach its feeding area. Confirm food acceptance and watch body condition closely, because a goby moving sand is not necessarily finding enough nutrition. Calm tankmates and a tightly covered aquarium help support a safer settling-in period.
