Mimic Eibli Tang

Young Mimic Eibli Tangs resemble an Eibli angelfish, with red-orange vertical lines. Those markings fade as the fish matures into a browner adult with dark, pale-edged fins. It remains a surgeonfish with the swimming and grazing needs of a tang.

Provide a spacious established aquarium with room to travel between feeding areas. Other surgeonfish, particularly similarly shaped tangs, can trigger strong territorial behaviour. An existing tang collection needs careful compatibility planning before another fish is introduced.

Build its feeding routine around marine algae, dried seaweed and suitable herbivore preparations. Taking meaty food during a community feeding does not replace the plant material it needs. Position algae where the fish can feed without repeatedly confronting a dominant tankmate.
