McCoskers Wrasse

McCosker's flasher wrasse, Paracheilinus mccoskeri, is an active reef fish whose brief displays can intensify its colours. Markings and fin development differ with sex and maturity; a general listing does not establish the appearance of the available individual.

Give it open swimming room above rockwork and several crevices for resting. Feed small marine meaty foods and suitable wrasse preparations in manageable portions through the day. Secure the lid and equipment gaps before introduction, since startled flasher wrasses can jump.

Calm companions help it feed confidently. Other wrasses need thoughtful introductions and enough room to retreat, as similar fish can become rivals. Persistent chasing or a fish remaining hidden at meal times should prompt a review of the community rather than an assumption that the wrasse simply prefers solitude.
