Offer a varied selection of suitable marine meaty foods and make sure portions reach the ray on the bottom. Blue-spotted maskrays search the substrate for animal prey, so ornamental crustaceans and small fish require particular caution. Strong filtration and prompt removal of uneaten food help manage the load from this feeding routine.

Keep shelters stable and preserve access to the sand around them. Observe feeding competition rather than relying on the ray to compete with fast midwater fish. Its tail carries venomous defensive spines; plan maintenance and transfers with an experienced handler and avoid crowding or cornering it.
