Lined Chromis

The lined chromis, Pycnochromis lineatus, is a small damselfish also listed under its former name, Chromis lineata. It naturally occurs around outer reef slopes and cave entrances, making nearby shelter an important part of its aquarium environment.

Provide rock ledges and crevices with open water immediately around them. Offer small foods it can capture in the water, including mysis, appropriately sized enriched brine shrimp and suitable marine pellets. Frequent modest portions help provide feeding opportunities without overwhelming filtration with a single large meal.

Choose companions that allow it to move between food and cover without repeated chasing. Natural observations include both solitary fish and loose groups, so a tightly schooling display should not be promised. Monitor every individual if keeping several, with enough retreats and feeding access for the entire group.
