Lightning Dove Snail

The Lightning Dove Snail has a dark, compact shell marked with pale zigzag-like lines. It is an algae grazer that explores aquarium glass, rock, and nearby substrate, making its small-scale movements particularly noticeable in a mature reef display.

Give it established hard surfaces to forage across and match stocking to the amount of available algae. Film growth and other suitable algal material form its feeding opportunities; adding a large group to newly cleaned rock can leave the animals competing for too little food.

Observe grazing and movement during regular checks, including after the aquarium lights dim. Preserve access to crevices instead of packing every gap with coral frags. Consistent marine conditions and protection from snail-eating tankmates support a more suitable environment than treating the snail as disposable maintenance equipment.
