Leopard Wrasse (F)

Leopard wrasses require a mature aquarium with productive live rock and a sand bed they can bury in. Their daily routine includes searching surfaces for tiny animal foods, then using the substrate for shelter. A newly assembled display with little natural food is unsuitable, even when its basic water tests appear acceptable.

Provide small marine meaty foods and verify that the individual actually swallows them. Some leopard wrasses remain difficult to sustain on prepared food, so access to suitable live prey and an established foraging habitat matters. Monitor body condition and avoid adding competitors that exhaust the same food supply.

Choose peaceful tankmates and cover every escape gap. Harassment can keep a leopard wrasse hidden and prevent feeding. Confirm the species and the meaning of the F label before selecting companions; the label alone does not establish a permanent colour pattern or a compatible pairing.
