Jeweled Blenny

Jeweled Blenny benefits from an established aquarium with accessible rock surfaces to graze and small retreats beside its feeding territory. The name is used for more than one combtooth blenny, so identification matters when planning adult space or choosing similar tankmates. Watching a fish repeatedly work a patch of rock is useful evidence of its feeding routine.

Natural grazing collects more than visible algae: the surface layer also contains organic particles and small organisms. Provide mature foraging surfaces and offer suitable algae-containing marine foods alongside a varied diet. Verify which prepared foods the individual swallows, and monitor its body condition instead of assuming that grazing alone meets its needs.

Allow the blenny access to its own shelter and food without persistent chasing. Avoid overstocking the same grazing area with competing fish. It should be chosen as an animal with an ongoing feeding requirement, rather than added solely to clear a short-lived algae problem.
