Holthuisi Anemone shrimp

The Holthuisi Anemone Shrimp is a small, translucent shrimp associated with anemones and other sheltered reef surfaces. Its white markings stand out against a host while the transparent body can be surprisingly difficult to see elsewhere.

Provide a mature marine aquarium with protected retreats and carefully selected companions. A suitable anemone can offer shelter, but the host's own care requirements must also be met. Watch for territorial fish that deny the shrimp access to its chosen resting place.

Offer fine marine foods, such as suitably sized mysis or Artemia, where the shrimp can collect them. Leftovers drifting near a host may contribute, but should not be the only planned nutrition. Avoid fish that prey on small crustaceans and maintain steady water conditions, especially during settling and molting.
