Halloween Urchin

The Halloween Urchin is a colorful collector urchin that grazes hard aquarium surfaces. It may cover itself with loose shells, rubble or other small objects, a natural behavior that can be entertaining but also affects how a reef is arranged.

Provide a mature aquarium with broad grazing areas and space for growth. Film, turf and larger algae can contribute to its diet; offer dried marine seaweed or another suitable herbivore food when natural growth becomes limited. A larger urchin can exhaust a small feeding area surprisingly quickly.

Secure coral frags and lightweight decorations before introduction. The urchin may carry or shift them while moving, even without feeding on the coral itself. Maintain stable salinity and good oxygenation, avoid copper medications, and transfer the animal without pulling on its tube feet or spines.
