Half Black Angelfish

The half black angelfish, Centropyge vrolikii, is a dwarf angel with a pale front and a strongly contrasting dark rear body. It spends much of its time inspecting reef structure, so a mature, varied aquascape is an important part of its home.

Provide rock caves and grazing surfaces while keeping routes between shelters open. Offer algae-based marine foods, small meaty items and appropriate angelfish preparations in a varied routine. Observe its appetite after introduction rather than depending entirely on natural browsing.

Corals and other invertebrates may attract picking, and similar dwarf angels can provoke territorial disputes. Assess a reef collection with those behaviours in mind. Several hiding places can help manage introductions, but they do not guarantee that two angelfish will accept one another.
